I thought I had posted this a long time ago, but I couldn’t find it in my past posts, so…
Storm Clouds Rising
The storm clouds are rising
I can feel the air tingling
The lightning flashes
And in the pause before the thunder
I brace for the clap.
Raindrops land on my hair, shoulders, glasses
Wash down my upturned face
Wash the mascara off my face
Black down freckled flesh.
The storm clouds are rising
Can you feel that tingling?
Did you see that lightning?
The thunder’s coming.
A hush, a pause in the rain
A dark night
So much like that bright OR
And we’re waiting for your cry.
Storm clouds rising
Electricity rising
White lightning
Thunder’s coming.
Still waiting on that thunder
Holding my breath
Keeping my mouth shut
Re-visiting dark basements lit by single light bulbs.
The storm clouds are rising
I can feel the air tingling
Lightning flashes
Come on Thunder, Come on.
