She was never sure when the next wave would hit.
Some days the water was calm and warm
Carried her along on strong arms
For days.
Others
It was all she could do to stay afloat.
The waves reached high
And she watched as they crashed on down
Spraying saltwater into her eyes
Bringing on salty tears
Throwing her about choppy waters.
She had a lifeboat once
But she couldn’t keep up with the leaks
And so she cast it out to float away
In the dark.
The water would carry her on
She knew.
She just didn’t know where.
Despite the thrill of her new adventure
At times she longed for her old boat
Leaks and all.
We all long for the lost
Sometimes.
