Calme de Matin

The house is still

With no children in it.

It’s time to join the masses

En route to work.

Instead I sit.

The air stirs the curtains

The cars cruise by outside

The dog knows it’s crate time

And keeps glancing my way.

I take another sip of coffee

Try and decide what path I take.

At my bedside

My pretty new alarm clock

Ticks away the time.
