Graveyard Games

My childhood homes
Sit less than a mile apart
And where the two roads meet,
An old cemetery sleeps
Where on so many summer nights
We played hide and seek
Hiding behind moss covered stones
Trying to decipher chiseled cursive
In half moonlight
Jumping at imagined ghosts
Under a magnificent willow
Marveling at heartfelt shrines
To babies and mothers and lovers
Lost too soon
Burning curiosity into me
Deep
And the need to know
And tell
Their stories.
